Hey there, Manav here! âšÂ Every week, I'll be sharing my thoughts on productivity, life lessons, and helpful tips.
This weekly newsletter is my way of reflecting on life and keeping track of the fascinating things I discover or come to understand.
If youâre gonna sell something, make sure itâs expensive
Well, let me tell you a little secret (as someone who has been in sales for quite a while).
If you're gonna sell something, make sure it's a high ticket item.
Yeah, you heard me right! Why?
For starters, the commission is higher and you deal with rich people. And rich people, my friend, are a different breed.
They're not looking for bargains or coupons; they want quality and exclusivity.
Imagine selling a high-end watch.
You're not just selling a device to tell time; you're selling a status symbol, a piece of art, a conversation starter.
Rich folks are often willing to pay for that experience, that uniqueness.
Well if you do not know where to start, here are some of the highest-paying commission-based sales roles in the US (besides real estate):
Medical device sales - Commission can range from 5-15% on multi-million dollar sales of equipment like MRI machines, prosthetics, implants, etc.
Software/SaaS sales - Commission rates around 25-35% on landing big enterprise contracts worth hundreds of thousands in licensing/subscription fees.
Luxury car sales - High-end dealerships pay 10-15% commission on cars sold that can be $100k+ each.
Yacht brokerage - Brokers can earn commissions of 10% or more on multi-million dollar yacht and boat sales.
If this guy can sell private jets on tik-tok you can too:

Stop spending your startup funding like a drunken sailor.
The most common mistake Iâve seen startups make is hiring too many employees too quickly.
Raising another round in this climate can be a nightmare.
In this bear market, the longer your runway, the better.
To help founders and startups, I started a new service called NextScout. At NextScout we connect executives with highly skilled overseas talent, a talent that costs 75% less than a US or UK equivalent.
Unlike other recruitment services, you only pay NextScout when you hire a remote worker who meets your standards â which, thanks to their rigorous candidate selection process, is a near-certainty.
So if you want to reduce your labor cost, at NextScout we can help. Just fill out this short form, and weâll take care of the rest.

Business Idea of the Week
Create a marketplace for jet owners to rent out their jets to instructors/flight schools.
This marketplace should not only facilitate the rental of jets for training purposes but also promotes a revenue-sharing model that benefits both parties. Additionally, an affiliate program should be introduced to incentivize instructors to promote the platform, leading to increased jet sales.
Target Audience:
Jet Owners: Individuals or corporations who own private jets and are looking to monetize their assets during downtime.
Flight Instructors: Certified professionals seeking high-quality jets for training sessions.
Revenue Model:
Jet owners can list their jets for a fixed rental fee or a percentage-based fee.
A commission from each rental will be retained by JetShare.
Instructors who bring in jet buyers or renters through the affiliate program earn a commission.
Affiliate Program:
Instructors can sign up for the affiliate program, receiving unique referral codes.
For every new jet owner or renter they bring to the platform, they earn a commission.
This not only incentivizes instructors to use and promote JetShare but also potentially increases jet sales.
Action Items:
Database Acquisition:
Partner with aviation associations and jet sales companies to access databases of jet owners.
Attend aviation trade shows and conferences to network and gather leads.
Licensing and Regulation:
Consult with aviation lawyers to understand the legalities of renting out private jets for training purposes.
Ensure all listed jets have the necessary certifications and are compliant with aviation regulations.
Ensure all instructors have valid certifications.
Review all competition and provide a better user experience
