🍀 Game Theory - The Art of Smart Decision Making

Learning game theory will help you understand how people make decisions while doing business with others.

It's all about thinking ahead and trying to guess what the other person might do.

Imagine you and your friend want to share a piece of cake, but you both love cake and want the bigger piece.

Game theory helps you think about what your friend might do and how you can make the best decision.

You might think, "If I take a big piece, my friend might get upset and take a bigger piece next time. So maybe I should take a fair piece to keep things friendly."

It's like thinking about what the other person might do and trying to make the smartest move for ourselves.

My Path to US Citizenship 🧵

I was born in the incredible country of “India”, which happens to be the most populated country right now and has the biggest backlog of green card applications.

For people who are not aware of this, there are green card quotas, which means no single nationality can receive more than 7% of employment-based green cards.

Most people who migrate from India rely on an H1-B visa, which requires them to jump through high hoops of the lottery system (yikes), legal fees (expensive af), and employer search (superhard) for who would be willing to sponsor their visa in the first place.

Other options like investment visas (need like a million dollars) and asylum carry their own challenges.

In an ideal world, immigration should be:

  • a skilled-based importation not per country quota.

  • merit-based not some random lottery system.

  • applicants should be pruned who are no longer interested in migrating here.

The government should also:

  • Create a startup visa program to incentivize entrepreneurial talent and encourage innovation.

  • Provide provisional work authorization while applicants await permanent residency. This would allow dependents to work legally.

  • Increase immigration staffing and resources to expedite backlog processing. This could accelerate decision-making and reduce delays.

  • Allow certain visa holders like H-1B and students with advanced STEM degrees to adjust their status without sponsorship. This would expand access to employment-based green cards.

  • Reform family-based immigration laws to reduce barriers and backlogs for sponsoring relatives. This would help more families immigrate together.

The current system seems to disproportionately affect certain nationalities. For America to maintain its status as a superpower, it should prioritize meritocracy.

Business idea of the week: Productised Services

Productizing a service is the process of turning a service-based business into a product-based business.

This involves taking a skill or service and developing it into a standard, fully tested, packaged, and marketed product.

For example, a consultant might productize their expertise by creating a product or service based on that knowledge.

Productizing a service can have many benefits, including:

  • Simplifying the payment process

  • Making it easier to switch merchant accounts

  • Eliminating the need to renegotiate contracts

  • Getting paid upfront

To productize a service, you can:

  • Identify the target market

  • Standardize features

  • Create pricing plans

  • Develop marketing materials

  • Provide customer support

When choosing a service to productize, you can consider:

  • Market demand

  • Scalability

  • Unique value proposition

  • Revenue potential

These productized services can create a win-win situation if executed properly for the service provider, client, and the group of professionals fulfilling the service.

Creators deserve a dedicated team - from social media managers to scriptwriting, and video editing.

But the average US video editor earns $67,000 annually, that’s out of budget for a lot of people.

We can provide our clients with a video editor, but also an animator and a project manager for far less.
